Andrew Tyler “Drew” Sopoci

Maple Hill—Andrew Tyler “Drew” Sopoci, 18, was killed in an auto accident near Alma Sunday, January 7, 2018.

He was born on November 20, 1999 in Manhattan.  He was the son of Dustin and LaDonna Pageler Sopoci.

Drew attended Maple Hill Grade School, Paxico Middle School and Wabaunsee High School before transferring to St. Mary’s High School his sophomore year. Drew was a senior at St. Mary’s High and was attending Washburn Technical College where he was studying welding.  He had worked the past several summers with his dad, Dusty, at Country Carpets and was currently working at Baskin Robins near Maple Hill.  Drew was an avid hunter and loved to fish.

He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Randy Sopoci, and a cousin, Hailey Sopoci.

Survivors are his parents Dusty and LaDonna of the home; his sister, Kylee, of the home; maternal grandparents, Dean Pageler, Maple Hill, Sandra and Robert Weixelman, Liberty, MO; paternal grandparents, Donna and Gary Krohn, Wheaton.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 12, 2018 at the St. Mary’s United Methodist Church.  Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery.  Drew will lie in state and the family will receive friends Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. at Piper Funeral Home in St. Mary’s.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Andrew Tyler Sopoci Memorial Fund and sent in care of the funeral home.  To leave an online condolence please go to[1].
