Anna M. Redmann Black Valdez, 79 passed away Monday, November 04, 2013 at ManorCare of Topeka.

She was born April 10, 1934 at Wamego, the daughter of the late Ernest R. Schleif Sr., and Mrytal Bowman Schleif.  Anna grew up in the Wells Creek community and graduated from Wamego High School.  She also graduated from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in Topeka

Mrs. Valdez was a registered nurse and lived and worked in Wisconsin for many years.  She returned to Kansas and had lived in Perry, St. Marys and Topeka and had worked at the Westmoreland Hospital.

She was married to Louis Redmann, they were divorced.   She married Homer Edward Black on August 2, 1969 he preceded her in death on May 7, 1992.  She later married Rudolph C. Valdez in 2002.  He preceded her in death on October 24, 2007.  Anna was also preceded in death by a brother, Ernest R. Schleif Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Mike (Diana) Redmann, Kingsville, MO. and Tim Redmann, Maple Hill; her daughter, Winona (Jack) Salmons, Topeka; two sisters, Eleanor Johnson, Wamego and her twin, Beatrice Zobel in Michigan; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 7:30 P.M.Friday, November 8, 2013 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Friday before the service.  Interment will be private in the ValleyViewCemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and sent in care of the funeral home.

    I am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. I remember her from years ago. You were always a great daughter. She was lucky to have you. She was a sweet, special woman and while I know you will miss her, you have a lot of good memories to treasure and help you heal. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.   4. Anna was such a joyous lady that I had the privelage of taking care over the last few years. She will be missed by many people. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow.
