Come Help us Celebrate the life of Rev. Susan A. Montgomery on Monday, June 6, 2016 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church, St. Marys, Kansas at 10:00 A.M.  Inurnment graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday, June 6, 2016 at the Valley Brook Cemetery south of Overbrook.

Susan was born November 15, 1946 at Topeka the daughter of Thomas H. and Ramona K. Selsor Turner.  She graduated from Osage City High School in 1964.  She married Larry Montgomery and they raised two sons.  Larry and Susan divorced in 1983.

She attended KSTC at Emporia one year after high school and returned twenty years later to graduate from Emporia State University in 1987 with a BS in Psychology.  She attended Boston University School of Theology and graduated with a Master of Divinity in 1991.  She served many United Methodist churches in Kansas including St. Marys, Emmett and Belvue, officially retiring in 2012 but continued to serve several church communities.  She was the City Clerk at Emmett.  Susan was a member of the Literary Club in St. Marys, Jolly Workers at Emmett and Sunflower Sue Club in Maple Hill.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include two sons, Brien (Teresa) Montgomery and Stacy T. (Stacy L.) Montgomery; two brothers, William (Rebecca) Turner and Michael (Jannett) Turner; three sisters, Kathryn (John) Knowlton, Nola (Dave) Roth and Taime (Jim) Pitchford; three grandchildren, Jessica Ann, Marc Neil and Brooke Marie; one great-grandchild, Connor Lee; nieces and nephews.  Susan Loved her family and passionately served the Lord.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Health Ministry or the Charity of the donor’s choice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
