Sandra Salerno

February 14, 1956 — April 1, 2016

St. Marys-Sandra Lynn "Sandi" Salerno, 60, passed away Friday, April 1, 2016 at a nursing facility in Olathe. She was born February 14, 1956 at Bismarck, ND, the daughter of George G. and Margaret S. Cook Moch. Sandi was raised in Hazelton, ND, and graduated from Hazelton High School. She had lived in California and Colorado before moving back to Bismarck where she worked for the highway department. She moved to St. Marys in 1980. Sandi had worked in many departments at St. Marys Academy & College. She was a member of Assumption Chapel. She was preceded in death by her mother Margaret in 2004. Sandi was united in marriage to Philip Salerno on May 1, 1982 at Assumption Chapel. He survives of the home. Other survivors include her father, George G. Moch, Bismarck; two sons, Joseph A. Salerno, Kansas City, KS, and Matthew D. Salerno, St. Marys; two daughters, Maria (Brendan) Hamtil, Stilwell and Anna Salerno, Topeka; a brother, Alan Moch, Bismarck; two sisters, Catherine A. Palmquist, Twin Falls, ID, and Deborah L. Moch, San Juan Capistrano; four grandchildren, Raphael, Zoey, Ginna and Sophie Lynn. She was truly an amazing and loving person to everyone she met. She never failed to put a smile on someone's face and could illuminate an entire room with her own bright smile. She loved her husband and children very much and loved her children's friends as if they were her own sons and daughters. Being a former cheerleader in her high school days, she loved nothing more than to cheer on her sons at their basketball, football, and baseball games or her daughters at dance and music performances. She loved her grandchildren very much and was able to see her one month old granddaughter in the days prior to her passing. We love you, Mom. Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment will be in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Salerno will lie in state from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Piper Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Tuesday at Assumption Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandra L.
