It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of Rossville Police Officer Kerry Dick. Officer Dick died Monday, November 29, 2021, at a local hospital of natural causes; he was 53 years old.
He was born December 10, 1967, at Wichita, the son of Edgar and Phyllis (Boggs) Dick. The Dick family moved to Wamego when Kerry was in the second grade. Kerry lived most all his life in Wamego.
Kerry started his law enforcement career in March 1995 as a Reserve Officer with the City of Wamego Kansas Police Department after completing their reserve academy. He transitioned to a part-time position with Wamego PD in 1997 after successfully completing the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center part-time academy. Kerry served as a part-time officer with the City of Rossville for over 14 years from September 2007 until his death on November 29th, 2021.
Kerry was preceded in death by his mother Phyllis; and several beloved aunts and uncles.
On September 6, 2014, Kerry was united in marriage to Tina Bonawitz at Willard.
Kerry leaves behind his wife Tina; Step-children and grandchildren; his father, Edgar Dick (Linda Falchek); his sister, Pam Maag (Roger), their children, Mara Thayer (Keith), and children, Lincoln and Jameson, Drew Prescott, Nelson Neuberger (Ashley), and children Ember with number two on the way, Mindy Brunker (Jake), and children Mackenzie and Brody, Katie Maag, and Adam Maag (Hannah) and children, Henry, Mila, and Maven; his uncle, Bob Boggs; aunt, Carol Davis, and aunt Janice (Lane) Chazdon; furthermore, a host of cousins and extended family. Kerry also leaves behind his Law Enforcement brothers and sisters.
