Agnes DeLeye

Agnes M. (Decker) DeLeye, 88, of St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at her home. Agnes was born September 21, 1928 in Burlington, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Maude (Garrett) Decker. She was a graduate of Burlington High School. She worked as a Secretary for Jackson Ice Cream Company in Hutchinson; she then worked for Southwestern Bell until she started her family. On October 10, 1959 she was united in marriage to Charles D. DeLeye at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Burlington. They met through the CYO. He preceded her in death on July 16, 1996. Prior to her stroke in 2012, Agnes was an active member of the Kaw Better Homes FCE and St. Marys Literary Club. She was also a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a loving mother to Mark DeLeye, Manhattan, Mary Dodson of the home, John DeLeye (Janel), Topeka and Marsha Becker (Mark), St. Marys. Agnes was a grandmother to John Andrick (Fiancé Nicole Bohnenkamp), Dalton, Macy, and Brooklyn DeLeye. Agnes is survived by sisters, Janice (Raymond) Stewart and Darlene Moritz; brother-in- law, Wesley Hunter; sister-in-law, Margaret (Val) Mayer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sisters, Aileen Skillman, Reta Decker and Ella May Hunter, her brothers, Lawrence Decker and Paul Decker, sons-in-law, Terry Andrick and Gary Dodson. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. DeLeye will lie in state and the family will receive friends at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys from 5:00 until the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. Monday, April 17, 2017. Memorial contributions may be made to the Agnes M. DeLeye Memorial Fund to be designated later and sent in care of the funeral home.
