Alan Ray Meyer, 58, died, Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka. He was born February 24, 1954 at Topeka, the son of Ray A. and Bonnie Marie Lasswell Meyer. He graduated from Onaga High School in 1972. Following high school he was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad for several years. He later attended The Missouri Institute of Technology receiving a diploma in Electronics in 1977. He worked for Sears, Roebuck and Co. in Topeka from 1993 until 2002 in the Craftsman Tool Department. Alan was a Model Railroad enthusiast. He also enjoyed spending time on his family farm in the St. Clere community. Mr. Meyer was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Marie Lasswell and his grandparents Fred and Marie Lasswell. Alan married Carol Minner on September 4, 2010 at St Clere. She survives of the home. He is also survived by his two sons and their spouses, Chad (Lori) Meyer, Lee's Summit, MO. and Evan (Mandy) Meyer of Topeka; three half sisters, Donna, Linda and Tina and a half brother, Al; four grandchildren, Andrew, Jack, Brooks & Alex, with twin granddaughters on the way. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. Interment will be in St. Clere Cemetery north of Emmett. Mr. Meyer will lie in state and the family will receive friends on Friday, December 14, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Overland Station and sent in care of the funeral home.
