Alvin Zeller

April 12, 1924 — September 23, 2017

Newbury-Alvin R. Zeller, 93, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2017 at a Topeka Hospital. He was born on April 12, 1924 in Paxico, the son of Michael L. and Mary Meinhardt Zeller. Alvin graduated from Paxico High School and had lived in the Paxico/ Newbury community all of his life Alvin was a farmer and had worked for the Topeka State Hospital as a plumber retiring in 1992. He had worked at Dave Hund's egg farm for several years and was a bus driver and custodian at the Paxico Grade School. Alvin had driven a truck for Kincaid Trucking several years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Newbury and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Alvin was also a member of the Flint Hills Tractor Club Alvin was preceded in death by a granddaughter, April Comes; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Zeller; a son-in-law, Kirby Allen; his siblings, Sister Maxine Zeller, OSB, Florian Zeller, Verena Seberg, Mildred Degenhardt, Thelma Caponegro, Louise DeDonder and Mercedes Sayler. On May 21, 1945 he was united in marriage to Margaret Hesse at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Jackie (Roger) McCormick, St. George, Janie (Ken) Schnitker, Salina, Kenneth (Wendy) Zeller, Paxico, Sylvia Nott, Paxico, Liz (John) Beard, Minneola; Pat (Ken) Maginley, Wamego; Mike (Lori) Zeller, Paxico, Paul (Suzy) Zeller, Assaria, Ann (Jerry) Robertson, Olathe, and Rob (Tiffany) Zeller, Gary, S.D.; 30 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 29, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Newbury. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Mr. Zeller will lie in state and the family will receive friends on Thursday, from 4:00 until the rosary at 7:00 P.M. at the church.
