Bobbie Ray Hood, 89, Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022, at a Topeka hospital.
Bobbie was born October 15, 1932, in Salisbury, NC, the son of Robert S. and Allie Margaret Painter Hood. He entered the United States Navy at the age of 17 where he served for six years. He joined the United States Air Force and served 14 years where he served in the Missile Squadron. He retired as a Master Sergeant on June 30, 1970.
After retiring from the military, he worked as a building maintenance supervisor for several Topeka area facilities, including Memorial Hospital, the Shawnee County Jail and Stormont Vail. Bobbie was active in the Dover Federated Church and the Youth for Christ in Mission Valley. He was a member of the NRA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tommy and Joelee.
On March 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Ella Ginter in Dover. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include his son, Kevin Hood, Topeka; a daughter, Tamara Childs, Topeka; two sisters, Lois Fay (Norman) Gore, Orlando, FL., and Iris Ann (Winfred) Routh, Lexington, NC; a grandson, Joshua (Katie) Cochran; and three great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at the Dover Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the donor’s choice.
