Wichita-Charles H. Griffin, 97, Wichita, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Robert Dole Veterans Administration Hospital Hospice. He was born April 6, 1919 at Boston, MA, the son of Charles D. and Gertrude A. McGrath Griffin. Charles grew up in Hampton, MA., and graduated from high school there. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Charles worked for NASA for many years, and knew many of the Apollo astronauts. He moved to Wichita in 1978. He was united in marriage to Nora Ann Hubbard at Newport News, VA. She preceded him in death on July 19, 1995. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Sydney Minter. Survivors include four sons, Carl H. Griffin, Topeka, Steven Griffin, Havensville, Douglas Griffin, Topeka and Brian Griffin, Wichita; fourteen grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Military graveside services will be at St. Clere Cemetery, north of Emmett on Friday, July 29, 2016 at 11:00 A.M.
