Clayton A. Perry Jr. passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at his home. He was born April 7, 1944 at Manhattan the son of Clayton Sr. and Marie Hesse Perry At a young age the family moved to St Marys where he attended grade and high school. Clayton joined the local National Guard Unit after completing high school. In 1966 he entered the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers No. 226 electrical apprentice program. He completed the program in 1970, and was named the Outstanding Apprentice of the year. He worked in several large and small electrical companies throughout Kansas and Missouri, specializing in large commercial buildings. Locally he worked on St. Marys High School and Jeffrey Energy Center. Clayton was a lifetime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and the K of C Council No. 657. Clayton married Nancy Roth in August 1975. They later divorced. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Larry Perry. Survivors include his three children, Megan (Dan) Thomas, Kansas City, MO; Erin (Jason) Way, Emporia, and Shawn Perry, Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, Alexander Thomas, Dylan Kosinski and Camden Way; two nephews, Brian (Deb) Perry and sons Nick and Michael, Houston, TX; and Kevin (Elizabeth) Fagan and children, Connor, Catilin, Molly and Owen, Summit, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mr. Perry will lie in state after 5:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Piper Funeral Home where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clayton Perry Memorial Fund to be designated at a later date and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
