Rossville-Clinton E. Kerwin, 86, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Rossville Healthcare & Rehab Center.
He was born August 4, 1926 at Delia, the son of Robert E. and Mary A. Hanrahan Kerwin. Clinton graduated from Delia High School with the class of 1944. He lived most of his life in the Delia and Rossville communities.
Clinton worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for over 40 years. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Rossville and a past member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 657, St. Marys.
On October 17, 1956 he was united in marriage to Winifred L. Yocum Besta. She preceded him in death on October 1, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Aloysius, and by brothers Robert and Kenneth. He was preceded in death by a step-son, George "Eddie" Besta and a step-daughter Teresa Marney.
Survivors include a son, Bob (Susan) Kerwin, Topeka; a step-son, Bennie Besta, Rossville; his daughter, Terri Kerwin, Topeka; a step-daughter, Mary C. (Ron) Cowan, Rossville; a step-son-in-law, Bob Marney, Holton; a step-daughter-in-law Nancy Besta, Topeka; brother, Leo (Virginia) Kerwin, Wellsville; 18 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Rossville. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys where the family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:00. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Harden Hospice or St. Stanislaus Catholic Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
