Colleen Bowers

Eskridge-Colleen I. Bowers, 80, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015 at the Midland Hospice House. She was born September 8, 1934 at Eskridge the daughter of Ivan D. and Nola L. Barber Conrad. Colleen graduated from Eskridge High School in 1952. She had worked at the Supply Depot in Topeka. She and her sister Connie owned the County Store in Eskridge and Colleen worked at Ron's IGA also in Eskridge. Mrs. Bowers was the City Treasurer for the City of Eskridge for over 30 years. She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter No. 38 and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32. Colleen was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law Kenneth Evans. On December 27, 1957 she was united in marriage to Bob Bowers at Newkirk, Oklahoma. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Kenny Bowers and Danny (Jana) Bowers all of Topeka; her daughter, Cindy (Pat) Rutledge, Eskridge; a sister, Connie Evans, Eskridge; three grandchildren, Sami, Jake and Shelby along with nieces and nephews and many friends. Memorial Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the Eskridge Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Eskridge United Methodist Church or TARC and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Eskridge, Kansas 66423.
