Cory Piemonte

Cory Piemonte, 50, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012 at the St. Marys Manor. She was born April 10, 1962 at Vero Beach, Florida, the daughter of John Paul and Alberta Simasek Blackwell. Cory grew up in Florida and graduated from high school there. Cory and her family moved to St. Marys in August of 1989. She worked many years at the St. Marys Manor as a CNA. She moved to Charlottesville, VA in July 2006 and moved back to St. Marys in August of this year. Cory started as a city mail carrier for the United States Postal Service and later became a rural carrier before she retired for health reasons. She was a third order member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. She was also a member of the Rural Mail Carriers Association. Survivors include a son, Jack Piemonte, Harrisonburg, VA; her daughter, Michelle Piemonte, Solana Beach, CA; a sister Denise Rainey, St. Marys; two brothers, Chris Blackwell, McAdoo, PA, and Michael Blackwell, St. Marys. Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Assumption Chapel, St. Marys. Cory will lie in state from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. There will be a rosary recited at 5:45 P.M. Monday, December 3, 2012 at Assumption Chapel.
