Darlene Rice

December 26, 1939 — September 10, 2019

Havensville—Darlene F. Rice, 79, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at her rural Havensville home.

She was born December 26, 1939 in the St. Clere community.  Darlene graduated from Yarbrough High School near Elkhart in 1957.

Darlene worked at McCall’s Pattern Company in St. Marys and was the secretary for Havensville grade school.   She was a homemaker, and loved flea markets, garage sales and baking pies.

On November 9, 1958 she was united in marriage to Louis Rice at the Mt. Olive Church east of St. Clere.  He survives of the home.

Other survivors include her children, Tony Rice, St. Clere, Brenda (Jeff) Zimmerman, Havensville, Gail (Dr. Charles) Gillum, Manhattan and Rex (Karla) Rice, Emmett; her brother, Stanley (Joan) Bolin, Elkhart; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Friday, September 13, 2019 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.  Mrs. Rice will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 9:00 A.M. until service time.  Interment will be in the St. Clere Cemetery, Emmett.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the funeral home.
