David Thomas Kretschmer, 66, passed away on the 16th of July, 2021, at a Topeka Hospital.
He was born on August 13th, 1954, in Elkhart, Indiana, to Eugene T. and Isabelle C. Fischer Kretschmer. He was raised in Elkhart, attending St. Vincent’s Grade School before going on to graduate from Elkhart High School, where he was the president of the chess club. He later received an Associate’s Degree from Metropolitan State University of Denver.
David was one of the founding members of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Watkins, Colorado, where he served as treasurer for 25 years. He moved to the St. Marys community in 2002, and worked as an accountant for The Onyx Collection for 15 years before retiring in 2019 due to his health. He attended the SSPX’s Assumption Chapel in St. Marys.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Eugene, and his sister Mary Harris.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Anne Neumann, whom he married in 1986 in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Other survivors include his daughter, Monica, son-in-law Chris Murray, and six grandchildren, Christopher, Declan, Alexander, Alece, Isabella, and Gabriel; his brother Joseph Kretschmer; his sister Carol Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.
A Requiem Mass will be offered at 11:15 a.m. on Friday, July 23rd at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment will be in St. Isidore Catholic Cemetery, Watkins, Co.on Monday, July 26, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. David will lie in state after 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 22, 2021, at the funeral home where there will be a rosary recited at 7:00 P.M.
After the funeral, there will be a reception for all at the Senior Center in St. Marys. Please bring a dish enough for your family plus a few more. Drinks will be provided.
