Donald Brees Sr

Emmett-Donald G. Brees, Sr. 82, passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Sabetha Manor. He was born August 20, 1933 on a farm near Emmett the son of William H. and Julia M. Bahner Brees. Don graduated from Emmett High School. Donald was a farmer and rancher most of his life. He was a member of the Emmett United Methodist Church, a past member of NFO and had served on the township board. He was united in marriage to Joye E. Davin; they shared 46 years of marriage. Joye preceded him in death on February 4, 2007. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son, Douglas G. Brees on September 27, 2003 and a sister Carolyn Brees McDowell on July 6, 1988. Survivors include his son, Donald, Jr. his wife and family Joann, Dalton, Brett and Brody and great-grandchild, Harlei; his son, David, his wife and family Cindy, Breanna and Jacob; his daughter, Dana Michael, her husband and family, Garrett, Payton, Preston and Paxton; his brother, William (Alice) Brees. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at the St. Marys United Methodist Church. Interment will be in the Adrian Cemetery. Mr. Brees will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, August 15, 2016 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made the Emmett United Methodist Church, Grace Hospice or the Sabetha Hospice and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
