Edith Sack

Edith "Edie" Elizabeth (Glotzbach) Sack passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 in her home with family at her bedside. She was born in Paxico, to Isedor and Otillia (Meinhardt) Glotzbach July 8, 1924. She was one of 10 children. She married Lorain J. Sack June 12, 1945 in Del Rio, Texas at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. They were married 57 years before his death in 2002. Edie is survived by her sons, James (Beverly), Palmyra, Nebraska, Don (Marlene), St. Marys and Paul (Becky), Scranton; two daughters, Marcie Cook and Jane (Randy) Kincaid all of St. Marys; her third daughter, Jean (Marvin) Clark preceded her in death. She also had 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She leaves one brother, Dennis (Ruby) Glotzbach and one sister, JoAnn Miller of Topeka; one sister-in-law, Betty Sack, Wichita and many nieces and nephews. Edie graduated from Paxico High School and then worked at the ATSF office until her marriage. In later years she worked at the St. Marys Library and as a bookkeeper for the parish of Immaculate Conception. She was a loving wife, amazing mother and devoted friend to many in St. Marys. She loved playing golf and bridge, reading and visiting friends. To her very last day on earth she enjoyed interacting with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. We were all truly blessed to have her in our lives. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Sack will lie in state from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday, March 5, 2017 at the church where there will be a rosary recited at 5:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
