Elias Moreno

St. Marys-Elias D. Moreno, 63, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born December 21, 1953 at San Antonio, TX; the son of Elias P. and Rosalinda DeLeon Moreno. Elias served in the United States Marine Corps. He grew up in San Antonio and moved to Houston at the age of 14. He lived in Montgomery, TX; for nearly 30 years before moving to St. Marys, KS; in May of 2013. Mr. Moreno was an automotive instructor for the Universal Technical Institute in Houston. He was a member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. He was preceded in death by his mother and by twin infant sons, Benjamin Vincent and Anthony Elias. On August 29, 1975 he was united in marriage to Barbara Orlando in Houston. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his father, Elias P. Moreno, Spring, TX; his children, Theresa Moreno-Schwed, Valerie Shaw and Elena Moreno all of St. Marys and James Moreno, Ft. Worth; three sisters, Diana Ornelas, San Antonio, Cythina Mazon and Arlene Basquz both of Spring, TX; a brother, Thomas Moreno, Spring, TX; 18 grandchildren. Requiem Mass will be at 6:50 A.M. Friday, November 10, 2017 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Mr. Moreno will lie in state and the family will receive friends at Piper Funeral Home from 5:00 until the rosary at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, November 9, 2017. Interment will be in Earthman Resthaven Cemetery Houston at 10:00 A.M. Monday, November 13, 2017. Mr. Moreno will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00 until the rosary at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home in Houston.
