Eugene Schwanbeck

St. Marys-Eugene R. Schwanbeck. 92, passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Community Hospital in St. Marys. He was born March 25, 1922 at LaCrosse, WI., the son of Eugene R. and Zita M. Knothe Schwanbeck. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Schwanbeck was a machinist for the Trane Company. On June 29, 1946 he was united in marriage to Leona A. Darga. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2006. He was also preceded in death by two grandsons. Survivors include daughters, Joan Drone, Nancy Topel, Barbara Shearer, Sueanna Johnson, Mariese Marvin, Mary Schalanger and Monica Brueske; sons, Eugene Schwanbeck III., Mark Schwanbeck, John Schwanbeck, Lawrence Schwanbeck, Bernie Schwanbeck and Robert Schwanbeck; a brother, Ralph Schwanbeck; a sister, Betty Butterfield; many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Requiem mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Thursday, December 11, 2014 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Mr. Schwanbeck will lie in state from 1:00 until 4:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at Piper Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Wednesday at the Church. Interment with military honors will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Schwanbeck's name and sent in care of the funeral home.
