Maple Hill-Francis Benedict "Frank" May, 85 passed away Sunday, January 22, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. He was born August 19, 1931 at Wichita the son of Nicholas and Mary Boor May. He graduated from Wichita State University. Mr. May retired from the United States Army after 20 years of service with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After retiring from the service he owned and operated a pet store and was in restaurant management. He move to the Maple Hill community in 1994 from Phoenix, AZ. and had been the Headmaster at St. John Vianney Catholic School. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Maple Hill and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He also was a member of the Legion of Mary at the church. He was united in marriage to Janice "Jan" Griffin in Las Cruces, NM. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Robert, Stephen, Gregory, Mary, Jeffrey, Claire and Karen; 21 grand-children and many great-grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Maple Hill followed by Requiem Mass. Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. May's name and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St. St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
