Kansas City—Gale A. Remington Smith, 66, formerly of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2020, at the Providence Medical Center in Kansas City.
She was born March 11, 1954, in Topeka, the daughter of the late Marvin C. and Helen M. Latter Remington. Gale grew up in Topeka but moved to San Antonio, TX. and graduated from high school there. She joined the United States Air Force in 1973 and was stationed in England, being honorable discharged in 1978.
Gale lived in Topeka until 2014 when she and Danny moved to Kansas City, KS. She attended Washburn University in Topeka and received a Bachelor of Public Administration degree in 1997. Gale received her Master's Degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas in 2001. She was very proud of this accomplishment. She worked for the Kansas Department on Aging, Midland Hospice, and the VA Hospital in Leavenworth. Gale was passionate about equal treatment for all and enjoyed discussing politics. She loved her family and friends.
Gale and Danny B. Smith married on August 7, 1988. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her daughter, Renee Lynn (Erik) Tegen, Palmer, AK; her son, John Thomas Shea, Brethren, MI; sister, Karen K. (David) Carlson, Olathe; 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 15, 2020, at the Carbondale Cemetery, Carbondale. Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice and mailed to your selected charity or organization. To leave online condolences go to www.piperfuneralhome.com
