Topeka-Gene Allen Oswalt, 62, died Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the House at Midland Care. He was born November 20, 1953 at Onaga, the son of Francis M. and Faye W. Harrison Oswalt. Gene graduated from Onaga High School. Gene had worked for Kansas Sand. He later owned and operated The Candle Shop in Meriden. Gene last worked as a groundskeeper at Cyprus Ridge Golf Course in Topeka. Gene was a member of the New Hope UMC where he served on the Finance Council and was a volunteer. He also was a volunteer at McCrites Plaza where he was named the Outstanding Volunteer in 2014. He was united in marriage to Alana LoCurto Wilson in May of 2014. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children Todd (Lynn), Brandi (Travis), Billie and Michael; stepchildren, Heather and Heath; three brothers, Ron (Brenda) Oswalt, Joe (Anita) Oswalt and John Oswalt; many grandchildren and step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Inurnment graveside services will be at a later date.
