James Eastman

James Henry Eastman, 66 passed away at his residence on August 1, 2018. He was born on November 10, 1951 to Ruth and Frank Eastman. He graduated from Eskridge High School. ln 1971 he was drafted into the Army where he served 2 years as a Combat Engineer. He was married to Rose Marie Davis on July 6, 1973. Jim retired in 2011 from Burlington Northern Santa Fe Shops after 38 years of service. In 1993 Jim established the family fencing business, JE Fencing working evening and weekends. As you travel the county you will find a many of their fences, pens, and entry ways all with their own unique design to fit the land. Jim had a love of collecting and rebuilding Stationary Engines to make them operate and then attaching them to various pieces of equipment to show how they were used in the past. He also collected antique tractors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruth (Long) and Frank Eastman and his father-in-law Edd Sheldon Davis. He is survived by his wife of 45 years at the home, children Craig (Michele) Eastman, Topeka; Brian (BJ) (Jennifer) Eastman, Paxico; and Jennifer (Jenni) (Sam) Nelson of Fort Worth, TX. Grandchildren, Wyatt Eastman, Brianna Eastman, Brayden Eastman, and Leah Nelson. Mother-in-law, Dorothy Marie (Hauer) Davis, Topeka. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at the Eskridge United Church, Eskridge. Jim will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday at the church.
