Maple Hill-Jeannette K. Suber, 75, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born May 9, 1943 in Des Moines, IA. the daughter of Floyd and Eva Sylvester Robbins. She had 5 siblings, Harold, Dale, Wayne, Howard and Myrna. Jeannette graduated from Lincoln High School in 1961. She did her undergraduate studies at Drake University and also received her doctorate of Pharmacy from Drake where she was the number one student of her class. Jeannette was a pharmacist and last worked for Dillon's Grocery Stores, retiring in 2012. She was a member of the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church where she sang in the choir. Jeannette was a member and past president of the Board for Midland Hospice Care in Topeka. She was very instrumental in the growth of Midland moving it from a small hospice to a multi-million dollar organization. Jeannette was preceded in death by brothers, Dale, Wayne and Harold. She was married to Allen L. Dickes until 1985. She married Jim Suber on May 20, 1988 at the Old Stone Church in Maple Hill. He survives her loss. Other survivors include her daughter, Lori Dickes (Keith Housand), Clemson, SC; three grandchildren (by Lori), Ally, Tim and Sam Housand; step-sons, Joe Suber, Olathe, and Andy (Stephanie) Suber, Lawrence; a brother, Howard (Pattie) Robbins, Des Moines; a sister, Myrna Smith, Des Moines; and two step-grandchildren, Ellie and Ben Suber. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 22, 2018 at the Maple Hill Community Congregational Church. Interment will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Suber will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys.
