John P. Pauly

John Peter Pauly, age 77, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was born on March 30, 1948 to Peter G. and Agnes R (Gros) Pauly in Wamego, Kansas.

He graduated from Immaculate Conception grade school and attended St. Marys High School, where he graduated in 1966. After graduation, he was employed by Conner Tile and Linoleum in Topeka. He later worked for Fox Ceramic Tile in St. Marys. John then went to work for himself until retirement after working in the tile trade business for over 40 years.

He was employed by the city of St. Marys as the clubhouse manager for the St. Marys golf course. He was married to Helen Meyer Graham for 23 years until her passing. He volunteered at the St. Marys Senior Center and was vice president on the St. Marys Senior Board. He was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 657 and a 4th member of Thomas McNeive Assembly. John was also the Sacriston for the Tuesday morning mass and had two hours at the Adoration Chapel.

He is survived by his two step-sons, Sean (Cynthia) Graham of St. Louis, and Shane (Debra) Graham, of Topeka. Other survivors include his sister, Jane Mumpower (Randy) of Louisville and his brother, Ron, of St. Marys.

John was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, his sisters, Patricia and Katie, and his brothers, William, James, and Jerry.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 25, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Inurnment will be private at a later date. John will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the Rosary at 7:00 PM, Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Piper Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in John's memory to the Immaculate Conception Building Fund, sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, KS 66536.
