Linda Gale Bogue Schwed, recently age 76, of Saint Marys, Kansas, passed away peacefully in her sleep of natural causes on February 6, 2025 after having received the Sacrament of Last Rites the previous week.
Linda was born on January 20, 1949, to Linna Lou and Marion Wiley Bogue in Ottawa, Kansas. In 1971, Linda married Michael A. Schwed at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Shawnee, KS., though they divorced in 1993. Together they had five children: Michele, Michael, Anthony, Matthew, and Mark.
Linda studied Primary Education and Art at Sam Houston State University and dedicated many years to shaping young minds as a teacher in the Montgomery Independent School District, where her love for creativity and children extended far beyond the classroom.
In 2002, Linda suffered a traumatic brain injury following a motor accident that she barely survived. Although her recovery was an uncertain and challenging journey, she surpassed all medical expectations regaining vocabulary, memories, and even some of her artistic abilities.
In 2010, Linda moved to Saint Marys, Kansas, where she quickly became the heart of Saint Marys Manor. She took immense joy in the many visits from the local children and found so much delight, especially in their ukulele music and Irish Dance performances.
Linda took great pride in being a mother, always introducing herself as a mother of "1, 2, 3, 4, 5". She loved coloring with her many grandchildren and especially delighted in holding her little grandbabies.
She was very grateful to God that she survived the accident, fully realizing that she could have died and often recounted her close brush with death to everyone she met, exclaiming, "I could have had it!" She often made the sign of the cross with reverence as she proclaimed, "I have it before I have anything!"
Linda and Michael reconnected in recent years and shared in the happiness and growth of their family. Linda never hesitated to express her strong love and deep gratitude for her family and friends, always making sure to make meaningful eye contact saying, "I love you! I really, really love you!"
Linda was a happy bubble of joy to the very end and leaves a hole in the hearts of the many, many people whose lives she touched in the Manor and wherever she went.
Linda was predeceased by her beloved son Mark, who passed away too soon in 2019 from brain cancer, as well as her parents Linna Lou and Marion Wiley Bogue, her brother Wiley Bogue, and her sister Pam Christy.
She is survived by:
