St. Marys-Lorene M. Rogers, 87, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born May 19, 1929 at Paxico the daughter of Aloysius H. and Pauline Hund Fry. After graduating from Paxico High School Lorene moved to Topeka and worked for Hallmark Cards until her marriage. She and her husband "Porkey" owned and operated the B & B Café in St. Marys for 23 years retiring in 1989. Lorene was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. On August 18, 1951 she was united in marriage to William V. "Porkey" Rogers at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newbury. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Fr. Timothy Fry and a sister, Mildred Burg. Survivors include her daughter, Beverly Rogers, St. Marys; her sister, Sr. Brendan Fry, OSB, Atchison; sister-in-law, Vena M. Willingham, Topeka; several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Mrs. Rogers will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 6, 2017 at Piper Funeral Home and a rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M.
