Willard-Luella M. (Olson) Sage, 92, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at her home. She was born February 27, 1921 at Rossville, the daughter of Elmer R. and Hazel F. Lloyd Olson. She grew up in Rossville and graduated from Rossville High School with the Class of 1939. Mrs. Sage worked in food service most of her life. She was the first cook for the Hot Lunch program at the Dover Grade School. She also was the head cook at the Rossville Grade School. Luella worked at Washburn University and several local restaurants. She retired from the V.A. Canteen in 1982 after 15 years of service. Mrs. Sage was a member of the Dover Federated Church and a member of the Dover Ladies Aid. On February 11, 1942 she was united in marriage to Austin M. Sage at Topeka. He preceded her in death on September 10, 2004. Survivors include her son, Melvin D. (Loretta) Sage, Willard; her daughter, Arletta E. (G. Gene) Nichols, Willard; five grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Dover Cemetery, Dover, Kansas. Mrs. Sage will lie in state from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at Piper Funeral Chapel in Rossville.
