Margaret K. Overmyer, age 85, passed away in her sleep on January 12, 2015 in Lenexa. Margaret Eileen "Marge" Krogman was born November 24, 1929 in Seneca, Kansas, to Joseph and Margaret Ellen (nee McNally)Krogman. She was educated in the St. Peter and Paul parochial schools in Nemaha County, graduating near the top of her class academically at age sixteen in 1946. Shortly after graduation she moved with her family to Topeka where she attended the Clark School of Business. She married David C. Overmyer in 1948. Together, they had six children: Jeff, Cheryl, Nancy, David, Tom, and Mary. Marge devoted herself to the health and welfare of her children, taking a very active role in their formative years, serving as Den Mother, Room Mother, advisor, disciplinarian and confidante. After her children had grown and her marriage ended in divorce, Marge joined the work force again as a House Mother for the Sigma Nu Fraternity, first at Kansas State University, and then later at the University of Kansas. She also worked as a house Mother at Baker University. After suffering a massive and debilitating stroke in 2003, she resided at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa nursing facility. Marge is survived by three daughters; Cheryl (Paton) Eliot of Overland Park, KS; Nancy K. Overmyer of Topeka, KS, and Mary Simecka (Ben) of Olathe, KS. Three sons; Jeff Overmyer (Kathy) of Silver Lake, KS; David J. Overmyer of Saudi Arabia, and Tom Overmyer of Cleveland, OH. Seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a sister, Marilyn Berberick of Overland Park, KS., a brother in-law Harold Michaelis, Topeka, KS., a sister in-law Betty Bowers of Louisville, KY, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Kathryn Cortright and Gertrude Michaelis, and three brothers: Charles, Joseph, and Francis Krogman. Marge will be remembered lovingly by all who knew her for her generous spirit, her quick wit, intelligence, and compassion.
