Mary Jane Thomas

Mary Jane Thomas, 82, of Topeka, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at McCrite Assisted Living in Topeka, KS. Mary was born October 26, 1940 near Burlingame, KS.  Mary lived most of her life near Dover, Kansas following her marriage to her beloved Cecil Leonard Thomas in November of 1958.  She was a homemaker.  She enjoyed cooking, tending to her flowers and garden, collecting Snoopy memorabilia and was a huge George Strait fan.  She also enjoyed sewing and quilting with the Dover Ladies’ Aide group at church, and outings with The Dover Dollies.   She worked for and retired from Josten’s in Topeka working in all facets of school yearbook production. 

She and Cecil enjoyed 26 years of marriage before his passing in 1984.  She was also predeceased by her parents, Benjamin Paul and Lillian Exzelda (Charland) Stout and her brother Benjamin Paul Stout Jr.  Mary is survived by her sister, Phyllis Lafferty and many nieces and nephews and their families.  Arrangements are entrusted to Piper Funeral Home in St. Mary’s, KS. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am at the Dover Federated Church, Dover, KS prior to 11:00 services on Saturday, December 31, 2022.  Burial will follow at the Dover Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Dover Federated Church sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Mary’s Kansas, 66536.
