Maxine M. "Pat" Wiltz, 92, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Oakley Place in Topeka.
Pat was born on April 23, 1931, near Baileyville in Nemaha County. She was the daughter of Raphael and Lucy Agatha Volz Hulsing. Pat was raised in Nemaha County and graduated from Sabetha High School.
The Wiltz family moved to St. Marys in 1957. Pat and her husband Vince were the proud owners and operators of St. Marys Surplus for an impressive span of 37 years. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
On January 17, 1951, Pat married Vincent G. Wiltz in Sabetha. Vince passed away on May 19, 2015. Pat was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jim and Walt, two sisters, Eleanor and Mary Lou, and a granddaughter Lily.
Left to cherish her memory are six sons: David Wiltz, Dan (Tammy) Wiltz, and Don (Steve Luoma) Wiltz -of Topeka; Steve (Deana) Wiltz, Mike Wiltz, and Doug Wiltz St. Marys: her daughter Dr. Pat (George) Stewart from Columbia, MO. Additionally, she is survived by twelve grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Following the service, burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in St. Marys. Pat will lie in state, and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Piper Funeral Home. For those who wish to honor Pat's memory, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys Senior Center and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
