Norman Marstall

Norman F. Marstall, 82, lifelong St. Marys resident, passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018 in St. Marys. He was born January 1, 1936 at Wamego, the son of George H. and Nellie M. Van Hole Marstall. Norman graduated from St. Marys High School in 1953. Norman worked for the St. Marys CO-OP in the seed corn division and drove part time for Kincaid Trucking. Norman retired as an E-8 from the Kansas National Guard in Topeka after nearly 34 years of service. After retiring Norman worked for J.B. Pearl and Pessemier Farms. Norman was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. He was a Honorary Life Member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 657 and Thomas A. McNeive Fourth Degree Assembly where he held several offices including Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. Norman served on the St. Marys Township Board, St. Marys Fire Department and Mt. Calvary Cemetery Board. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers George and James Marstall. On October 1, 1960 he was united in marriage to Shirley Godfreson at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Marysville. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Tony (Amy) Marstall, Eskridge, , P.J. (Jana) Marstall, Emporia, Beth (John) Martinson, Maple Hill and Dave Marstall, Topeka; three brothers, Charles Marstall, Arlington, VA; Larry (Anita) Marstall, St. Marys and Ken Marstall, Topeka; sister-in-law, Roberta Marstall, Manhattan; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys. Norman will lie in state on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4:30 until 6:00 P.M. where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Marys High School Alumni Association or Mt. Calvary Cemetery and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple Street, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
