St. Marys-Oliver William Dredger Jr., 85, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the St. Marys Manor. He was born December 30, 1931 at Brooklyn, NY. the son of Oliver W. and Ellen Duggan Dredger. He was reared in New York and graduated from St. John's University. Mr. Dredger served in the United States Air Force as a pilot during the Korean War. Mr. Dredger was an airline pilot for Delta Airline and lived in Atlanta, GA. many years before moving to St. Marys in 1994. He calculated that he had been in the air nearly 3 years of his life. He also was a private pilot. Mr. Dredger was a member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. On September 12, 1959 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth H. Hassen in Brooklyn. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2007. Survivors include his children, Ann Fullerton, New York, William Dredger, St. Marys, Mary Marsh, St. Marys and John Dredger, Kentucky; 27 grandchildren. Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Thursday, April 6, 2017 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment will be in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery. Mr. Dredger will lie in state on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 1:00 until 4:00 PM. at Piper Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Wednesday at Assumption Chapel.
