Ona Gehring

Belvue-Ona M. Gehring, 86, passed away Monday, January 29, 2019 at the Alma Manor. She was born December 9, 1932 on a farm near Harveyville the daughter of Irvin B. and Evelyn Ball Huske. She lived in the Harveyville community until moving to Topeka where she attended Topeka High. Mrs. Gehring had lived in the Belvue community for many years. She worked in housekeeping at Kansas State University in Manhattan. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Herman, Irvin Jr, Roy, Gaylord, Lorraine and two infants. On December 20, 1950 she was united in marriage to Henry Gehring in Topeka. He survives of the home. Other survivors include two sons, Henry A. Gehring Jr, Topeka and August W. Gehring, Belvue; two daughters, Ona (John) Shumaker, Alma, and Evelyn Kennedy, Wamego; her sister, Josephine Cochrell, in Texas; three grandchildren, Matthew (Julie) Kennedy, Daniel (Emily) Kennedy and Roger (Britney) Shumaker; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Reese Kennedy. Memorial services with inurnment in the Greenwood Cemetery will be at a later date.
