St. Marys, Kansas-Pauline A. Greidanus, 88, passed away peacefully on Holy Saturday, March 31, 2018 at her home in St. Marys with family and friends by her side. She was born October 20, 1929 at Worcester, MA. the daughter of Clayton W. and Sophie Engelhard Pettey. Pauline lived in Massachusetts until moving to Wisconsin at the age of 14. She graduated from St. Catherine's Catholic School in Racine, WI. On July 22, 1950 she was united in marriage to Jacob R. Greidanus in Kenosha Wi. At Thomas Aquinas church. He preceded her death on Oct. 15, 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Mary and her son David Clayton Greidanus on Nov. 6, 2013. Mrs. Greidanus worked at Triangle Appliance (bookkeeper) before children and Jockey International after children but her main job was being a housewife and mother. She and her family lived in Kenosha, WI. until moving to St. Marys in 1990. Mrs. Greidanus was a member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. She Loved Our Lord and was a member of the Altar Society and Women's Forresters. Pauline was known for her salmon croquet's, meat loaf and always baked birthday cakes for the family. She loved "date night" (steak& baked potatoes) at home with Jake, hunting and fishing with him, traveling and camping, gardening, trying different restaurants and bird watching. Pauline was a great seamstress, and an avid swimmer. Survivors include her children, Carol (Rich) Weldin, Mt. Vernon, MO., Karen (Tim) Simo, Placentia, CA., Tom Greidanus, Burlington, WI., Michael Greidanus, St. Marys, Vincent Greidanus, Amidon, ND., Paul (Karen) Greidanus, Kenosha, WI. and Sam Greidanus, Topeka; Two brothers, Burt (Lucille) Pettey and Phillip (Nancy) Pettey; Twelve grandchildren, Daniel (Amy), Joshua (Rochelle), Andrew, Timothy, Benjamin, Veronica (Kriz), Jacob, Nick, Dustin, Cody, Amanda and Seth. Five great-grandchildren, Shaira, Sophia, Arabella, Joshua and Matthew with two on the way. Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at Assumption Chapel. Mrs. Greidanus will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Tuesday at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M at Assumption Chapel Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Interment will be in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. A reception will follow at Assumption Chapel in the parish hall. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Greidanus's name and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
