Richard Edmond François Joseph Quenneville, beloved husband of Sylvia and father of Philomena, passed away on October 10, 2024 at Stormont Vail Hospital. Born on August 16, 1949, in Detroit, Michigan, Richard lived a life dedicated to his faith and family.
Richard was a baptized Catholic who grew up in California. After attending St. Jospeh's Highschool in Alameda, he pursued a Liberal Arts Degree at St. Mary College of California in Moraga. Richard went on to finish his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at St Thomas Aquinas University in Minnesota. His education laid the groundwork for his longlasting love of his faith and lifelong endevor to know it better.
Richard had a passion for reading, writing, and teaching, always encouraging others to seek truth. He had a particular affection for nature, enjoying hiking and archery when he had the opportunity. His generosity was evident in his willingness to help anyone in need, showcasing the core values he held dear throughout his life. He was a man who, when he saw the good, pursued it without counting the cost.
He found the Traditional Catholic Mass in 1985. He had a most particular devotion to Our Lady, the Mother of God, as he later joined the Legion of Mary and worked avidly to promote her in all the ways he could. A devoted family man, Richard shared a loving marriage with his wife, Sylvia Quenneville, for 34 wonderful years. Together, they raised their daughter, Philomena Quenneville, who was a source of joy for him. He is survived by his siblings: Susan Crosno, Dennis Quenneville, and Sera Dancer, along with his fraternal Aunt Theresa Quenneville and maternal relatives Uncle Johnny Tomijko and Aunt Elaine Tomijko.
When he was 58 he suffered a massive stroke which ended his career as a building designer. Thereafter he moved to St. Marys, Kansas with his family where the nearness to the Blessed Sacrament and the Mass gave him great joy. He passed away surrounded by his loving wife and daughter receiving the grace of Extreme Unction on the morning of Thursday, the feast of Saint Francis Borgia.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Quenneville, and his parents, Clair Repetti and Guy Quenneville. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love, commitment, and an unyielding pursuit of goodness.
Rosary and Visitation will take place at Immaculata Catholic Church in St. Marys on October 15, 2024, from 5:15 PM to 5:45 PM, followed by a Mass on October 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Richard will be laid to rest at Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery following the burial service on October 16, 2024.
