Wamego-Rita H. Brockish, 101, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Valley Vista Care Home in Wamego. She was born July 31, 1915 at Flush the daughter of Fred and Aurelia Umscheid Siebert. Rita graduated from Flush High School in 1934. Rita worked in food services for many years; she was a cook for Lillis Schools and also drove a bus there. She worked in several different cafes throughout the years in St. Marys. She was active in walk across Kansas where she walked every day, keeping up with people much younger than her. Rita had been an active member and served as a lay minister at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church until she moved to Wamego. On June 12, 1939 she was united in marriage to Herman Brockish at Flush. He preceded her in death on May 14, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence "Larry" Brockish on August 24, 1992, her brothers, Leon and Ignatius "Nate" Siebert; sisters, Ramona Pavia and Winifred Hofman; sons-in-law, Gene Daniels and Gary Keyser; a granddaughter, Vickie Daniels. Survivors include a son, Tim (Linda) Brockish, St. Marys; three daughters, Mary Frances (Kenneth) Meyer, North Bend, NE, Rose Ann Daniels, Columbus, KS, and Shirley Keyser, Wamego, KS; two brothers, Julian (Barbara) Siebert, Westmoreland and Kenneth (Bernadette) Siebert, Ames, IA; her sister, Anita (Tom) Weber, Camarillo, CA; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Marys. Mrs. Brockish will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 10:00 until the rosary at 11:30 Tuesday. Inurnment at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, St. Marys will be at a later date.
