Ronald L. "Ronnie" Baker, age 57, passed away on Thursday, July 4th at a Topeka Hospital. He was born on March 2, 1967, in Las Cruces, NM, to Ernest and Dana Jenkins Baker. Ronnie's early life included various relocations due to his father's military service until the family settled in Eskridge in 1981. He graduated from Mission Valley High School in 1985 and subsequently served in the United States Army from 1985 to 1988, where he achieved the rank of Corporal. As the leader of a Combat Infantry Squad, while serving the 1st Infantry Division "Big Red One" at Ft. Riley, KS, Ronnie was awarded numerous commendations in addition to receiving the Infantry Badge. After serving his country with Honors, Ronnie pursued further education at Washburn University in 1989 and completed his studies at Kaw Area Vo-Tech in 1990 as a Civil Technology graduate.

Ronnie went on to pursue a career in civil engineering, where he worked for Kingman Surveying and later Kramer Engineering from 1991 to 2014. After his time with Kramer, Ronnie co-founded Baker Boring & Excavation with his brother Earl, where he worked until his passing. Ronnie also co-founded Baker Morgan Racing in 2022. 

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dana, and his father-in-law, Kenny Evans. On August 3, 1991, he married Kendall Evans in Eskridge. Ronnie is survived by Kendall and their two sons, Braten and Cole, all of Auburn; his brothers Lonnie of Topeka and Earl (Cristy) of Eskridge; his sister Robin Baker of Eskridge; and his mother-in-law Connie Evans, Eskridge. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a brother-in-law.

A memorial service for Ronald L. "Ronnie" Baker will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys, with a memorial visitation starting at 6:00 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to Piper Funeral Home for a later date.
