Sarah Helen Salinas, 38, died in an automobile accident near Belvue on Monday, February 19, 2018. Sarah was born August 10, 1979, at Albuquerque, NM. the daughter of Homero Salinas and Sylvia Maez. She moved to the St. Marys community at an early age and graduated from St. Marys Academy and attended St. Marys College. She had been a dispatcher for the Wamego Police Department for the past 10 years. Sarah was a member of Assumption Chapel in St. Marys. Sarah was preceded in death by her step-father, John Cooney; grandparents, Horacio and Helen Maez and Heraclio Salinas. Survivors include her four daughters, Olivia, Gabriella, Isabella and Lydia: her mother, Sylvia Cooney; her father, Homero Salinas; two brothers, David and Paul; sisters, Rose, Clare, Bridget, Mary, Anne, Rita, and Helen; her grandmother, Aurora Gonzalez Vargas. Requiem Mass will be at 6:50 A.M. Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Assumption Chapel. Interment will be in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. Sarah will lie in state from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Monday, February 26, 2018 at Piper Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 5:20 P.M. Monday at Assumption Chapel.
