Eskridge-Terrance Lee "Terry" Yates, 54, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at an Emporia hospital. He was born December 18, 1960 at Cuba, NY the son of Burton Lee and Mary Lee Wilkins Yates. He grew up in New York and had lived several different places before moving to Lake Wabaunsee and later Eskridge. Terry had worked for the local nursing home, first as a cook and later was the activity director. He had been the music director for the Baptist Church and currently was the Music Director at the Eskridge United Church. Terry was an amazing artist and was active in fire spinning. He had art in various galleries throughout eastern Kansas as well as many of the businesses in Eskridge. He was always there to lend a hand with his artistic abilities. He had just finished helping with the set for a play at Central Heights High School. Terry graduated from Emporia State University. He had received an award from the Eskridge community for all his work he had done for the community. On October 31, 1998 he was united in marriage to Vicki Annette Walleck at the Methodist Church in Eskridge. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his father, Burt Yates, Bolivar, NY; his mother Mary Gleason, Bolivar, NY; daughters, Stephanie Nelson and Myla Ray Yates both of Eskridge; two brothers, Burton Lee Yates Jr., Cuba, NY and Alan Lee Yates, Olean, NY; two sisters, Tamara Lee Blauvelt, Obi, NY and Leah Ray Witherell, Portville, NY; triplet grandchildren, Jude Louis, Moorley Iris and Eisley Annette. A time of remembrance will be from 2:00 until 4:00 P.M. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Eskridge Community Pride Center.
