Vernon W. Thowe

Vernon W. Thowe, aged 77, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at a Topeka hospital.

Born on September 15, 1946, in Wamego, Vernon was the son of Arthur Christ and Madeline Freda Kobisbie Thowe. He spent his early years in the Alma community before relocating to California. In 1965 he was drafted into the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam.

Vernon dedicated many years of his career to the Golden Grain - Ghirardelli Chocolate Company in California before returning to Kansas in 1999. He later worked at the Hill's Pet Food Plant in Topeka until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers; John Palenske, Arthur Thowe, and Robert Thowe, two sisters; Nyla Lesline, and Ella Marr. Vernon is survived by his brother, Delmar (Sandy) Thowe, of Alma, and sister Dorothy (Calvin) Covington of St. Marys, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services, including military honors, will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at the Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Alma.
