Rossville-Vincent Bryce "Pete" Dudney, 80, passed away Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born January 3, 1937 at Dover, the son of Vincent G. and Edna Lister Dudney. Pete graduated from Dover High School in 1955 and served in the Kansas Army National Guard. Pete worked for the Gas Service Company retiring after 44 years of service. He was an avid coon hunter, he was a lifelong softball player, threw horseshoes, and collected arrowheads. Pete was on the football "Chain Gang" at Rossville High many years and loved to fish. He was a small engine mechanic. Pete was a member of Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion in Rossville and the Rossville United Methodist Church. On August 17, 1958 he was united in marriage to Barbara A. Gentry at Rossville. She preceded him in death on July 8, 2011. Survivors include his son, Mark Dudney, Silver Lake; two daughters, Robyn Dudney, Silver Lake, and Brenda Powell, Temple TX; two sisters, Beverly (Larry) Ketter, Topeka and JoAnn (Neil) Crow, Maple Hill; brother-in-law, Bill Gentry, Rossville; sister-in-law, Linda Gentry, Rossville; his granddaughter, Alayna Powell, Temple, TX. Memorial graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Rossville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at the Rossville United Methodist Church. In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pete Dudney Memorial Fund, the Rossville United Methodist Church or Jimmie Lillard Post No. 31 of the American Legion and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
