Virginia M. Boone, 97, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021, at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born April 17, 1924, at Desoto, the daughter of John H. and Ethel Kale Gilbreath. She moved to Topeka at an early age.
Virginia worked at Robert Hall’s for 13 years. In 1970 Virginia and her husband Leamon, opened Boone office machines retiring in 2005. Virginia was a member of the Order of the Eagles Auxiliary, Moose Auxiliary, and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Virginia M. Gilbreath and Leamon Boone were united in marriage on June 21, 1944, in Lawrence. They were married 68 years before his death on June 22, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her son, John, and grandsons Donnie and Robert.
Survivors include two sons, Ken (Laura) Boone, San Antonio, TX. and Jim (Patti) Boone, Auburn; her daughter, Ilene Boone, Topeka; grandchildren, Amy, Lisa, Debbie, Jason, Christy, Christina, Jody, Jennifer, and Rebecca; 22 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren with three on the way.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 P.M. Thursday. June 10, 2021, on the patio at the Topeka Cemetery. Interment is in the Topeka Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Midland Hospice House and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St., St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
