Walter Schindler

St. Marys-Walter B. "Buzz" Schindler, 79, passed away Sunday, September 27, 2015 at the St. Marys Manor. He was born May 19, 1936 at Kenosha, WI., the son of Walter B. and Ethel Parish Schindler. He had lived many years in Kenosha before moving to St. Marys in 1981. Mr. Schindler had worked for the St. Marys Academy and College many years. After his retirement he worked for the City of St. Marys at the transfer station. "Buzz" retired from the Army National Guard. He was a member of Assumption Chapel. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Betty and Martha; a granddaughter, Anna and a grandson Nicholas. On June 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to Beverly Judieka at Kenosha. She survives of the home. Other survivors include five sons, Walter III "Bud" Schindler and Joe Schindler both of Idaho, Andy, Marty and Robert all of St. Marys; two daughters, Kelly Quack, Indiana and Mary Berg in Colorado; many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Requiem Mass will be at 7:00 A.M. Friday, October 2, 2015 at Assumption Chapel. Interment will be in Our Lady Of Peace Cemetery, St. Marys. Mr. Schindler will lie in state from 2:00 until 5:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2015 at Piper Funeral Home in St. Marys. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 P.M. Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Walter B. Schindler Memorial Fund and sent in care of Piper Funeral Home, 714 Maple St, St. Marys, Kansas 66536.
